Amanda Higley, PhD, CIP, earned her PhD in Psychology from Kansas State University. She completed a predoctoral research fellowship in Neuropsychopharmacology at NIDA and a postdoctoral fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute investigating novel compounds for the treatment of drug dependence. Afterwards she continued in the research world serving as a research laboratory manager and deputy director of VA studies and Primary and co-investigator of several Phase I-III clinical trials for the treatment of substance use disorders. During this time she was an adjunct professor where she taught several courses in Research Methods, Statistics and Neuropsychology. She eventually moved away from direct research and joined Advarra IRB as an IRB Chairperson in 2016. As an IRB chairperson she is able to see all facets of active research at various stages while also leading, teaching and mentoring.
