Dr. Anuj Bhargava is the Founder, CEO, and Medical Director of Iowa Diabetes, an independent research center established in 2007. With over 30 years of experience in clinical care and more than 17 years in clinical research leadership, he is dedicated to improving the lives of people with diabetes through innovation, education, and patient-centered research. He completed his Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in 2002, earned a physician executive MBA in 2006, and became a Certified Diabetes Educator in 2007. Under his leadership, Iowa Diabetes has conducted over 230 clinical trials and enrolled more than 2,000 patients. Recognizing persistent recruitment and retention challenges, Dr. Bhargava developed Patient Qualifier (PQ), a lead management and engagement platform that fosters community-building and long-term participant relationships. He has authored 81 publications/abstracts, including 21 with direct research contributions, and regularly presents on clinical trial innovation, participant engagement, and research technology.
