John M. VanBuren, PhD is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Utah and a senior faculty biostatistician at the Utah Data Coordinating Center. His expertise lies in the design, implementation, and monitoring of multicenter clinical trials, with a focus on Bayesian adaptive methods and risk-based monitoring strategies. Dr. VanBuren serves as principal investigator or statistical lead for numerous federally funded studies in emergency medicine, pediatric critical care, and other therapeutic areas. He has led the statistical design of trials conducted under exception from informed consent and has published widely on data integrity, protocol adherence, and trial efficiency. A frequent invited speaker at national meetings, he is also an associate statistical editor for JAMA Pediatrics and an active contributor to the Society for Clinical Trials.
